Quality is more than a buzzword at EBM; it is a critical part of our culture and value proposition.  As a leading supplier of undercarriage parts to the passenger rail industry, we are used to working on parts that must meet stringent quality specifications.  Our customers rely on us to help them assure the quality of the “mission critical” castings that go into their locomotives and passenger vehicles.  Once installed, these parts cannot fail.

We understand this quality imperative and have developed the capabilities and processes to ensure it is met.  Our Quality Department is staffed with degreed engineers and quality assurance experts.  We rely on well trained technicians, precise measuring and testing equipment, rigorous inspection regimes and agreed upon procedures at suppliers’ and our own plant to ensure required quality and dimensional specifications are met.  In addition to assuring the physical integrity of castings we procure and machine, we are also highly experienced in managing the paper trail and certifications that often must accompany the castings we supply. 

EBM’s Quality Department is involved at all stages of the manufacturing process.  Our quality engineers work closely with our customers and Production Department in identifying appropriate casting sources.  All foundries must be pre-qualified and agreed upon with our customers.  Before production begins, it is our responsibility to ensure quality standards, design specifications and documentation requirements are fully understood and adhered to.  When necessary, EBM will engage “on-the-ground” quality agents in foreign locales to reinforce quality procedures. By the time finished castings leave our plant, they are certified as meeting all specifications. 

Our customers frequently tell us that sourcing castings which consistently meet required specifications is one of their most difficult procurement tasks.  Having EBM as a partner who can take on this role is a significant benefit and source of value-added services.
